Expert: Every 5th Russian uses no Web for no need, interest, skills
MOSCOW, Jan 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s adult Internet audience grew by 3.7% in 2019 to 94.4 million people, but 20.2% of the population still do not use the Web, market researcher GfK said on Tuesday in a statement.
Half of those who do not use the Internet, or 48.4%, said they are not interested or have no need in it. The figure fell from 55% in 2018.
A third, or 35.7%, said they do not know how to use the Internet, and 14.1% said they do not have a device to surf the Web.
Only 1.6% of 24 million unconnected people said they ignore the Internet on principle, and 5.3% are outside the Web due to expensive traffic or access.
GfK polled 2,106 respondents older than 16 years.
